Movie Preview: Noryang: Perilous Ocean directed by Kim Han-min

In 2014, Kim Han-min created “The Admiral: Roaring Currents” without knowing it would become the most successful Korean film ever. He also didn’t anticipate making a trilogy about the film’s main character, the beloved real-life naval commander Admiral Yi Sun-shin. However, almost ten years later since the first film’s release, the final installment of the Yi Sun-shin trilogy is expected to come out after last year’s “Hansan: Rising Dragon.”

Synopsis

In 1598, the Imjin War, which lasted for seven years, is coming to a close as the Wae invaders make plans to retreat from Joseon. Admiral Yi Sun-shin takes charge of a combined fleet of Joseon and Ming ships to defeat the Wae army. The three sides – Joseon, Ming, and Wae – engage in a fierce battle at Noryang Strait, where Admiral Yi bravely fights his final fight.

Kim Yoon-seok takes on the role of the renowned admiral this time, following in the footsteps of Choi Min-sik and Park Hae-il. He is joined by a talented supporting cast including Baek Yoon-sik, Jung Jae-young, and Huh Joon-ho. The film is set to premiere in Korea in December and will also have a simultaneous international release.
