The prestigious film award, the Golden Man of Issyk, was given to Martine and Jean-Marc Thérouanne, who are the directors of the Vesoul International Asian Film Festival, on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 in Kazakhstan.

Askar Abdrakhmanov, the representative of Kazakhstan to Unesco, along with Ainur Danenova, a counselor at the Kazakhstan Embassy in France, presented the “L’Homme d’or d’Issyk” honorary award for Kazakh cinema to Martine and Jean-Marc Thérouanne, co-directors and co-founders of the Festival International des Cinémas d’Asie de Vesoul. This award recognizes their dedication for the past thirty years in promoting Kazakh cinema in France.

The event occurred at the start of the 5th Kazakh Cinema Festival in France, held at the Forum des Images in Paris on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 7pm. Many experts in Asian film who had traveled to Vesoul and a large audience were in attendance during the ceremony.

The commencement event proceeded with the awarding of the “Golden Man Issyk” prize to the esteemed Kazakh performer Meruyert Utekesheva, in recognition of her illustrious career.
