Joseph Kuo, while not as well-known as others in his field, was a highly accomplished filmmaker who consistently delivered entertaining and popular movies that catered to the interests of his audience. The collection Deadly Masters! features four thrilling titles by Joseph Kuo: The 7 Grandmasters, The 36 Deadly Styles, The World of Drunken Master, and The Old Master.

In The 7 Grandmasters, Jack

In the film, Long portrays a kung fu expert who is confronted with the task of conquering a variety of adversaries, each skilled in a unique form of martial arts, before he can claim the title of grandmaster. Meanwhile, in The 36 Deadly Styles, a young man is compelled to master a lethal form of combat in order to seek vengeance for his father’s demise.

Building upon the triumph of Jackie Chan’s Drunken Master, The World of Drunken Master delves into the beginnings of Beggar So and his companion Fan Ta-Pei, and their acquisition of the drunken boxing technique. In The Old Master, Master Yu Jim-yuen (known for teaching Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, and Yuen Biao) travels to the United States to confront a Los Angeles street gang.
