The Red Sea International Film Festival (Red Sea IFF) concluded its third edition by showing Micheal Mann’s Ferrari, a project that received financing from the festival, and announced the recipients of the highly anticipated Yusr Awards. The event also featured the presence of Hollywood legend Nicolas Cage, who received a Red Sea Honoree award and joined the 2023 Honoree lineup alongside Diane Kruger, Ranveer Singh, and Abdullah Al-Sadhan. On Saturday, October 9th, the festival’s final gala will showcase Kristoffer Borgli’s horror comedy Dream Scenario, starring Nicolas Cage.th December.

Two panels of jurors carefully considered and ultimately chose the winning entries in 14 different categories, with Jury President Baz Luhrmann at the helm. A total of 17 films and 23 short films were in contention for the highly sought-after prizes.

The festival experienced its largest turnout yet this year, with almost 6,000 approved attendees and over 40,000 tickets sold for all screenings and In Conversations events.

Actors Nicolas Cage, Jason Statham, Halle Berry, Gwyneth Paltrow, Adrien Brody, Dhafer L’Abidine, Henry Golding, Andrew Garfield, and actresses Yousra, Kaouther Ben Hania, Alia Bhatt, Mahira Khan, and Saswan Badr were all present at the Closing Ceremony as honorees.

Jomana Al-Rashid, the head of the Red Sea Film Foundation, expressed that in the past 8 days, they have hosted a diverse group of filmmakers in Jeddah and united to celebrate the dynamic film community. Their main objective was to connect different cultures and establish new relationships. This was achieved through the screening of 125 films from various countries such as Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, Rwanda, and Armenia.

Malaysia, Pakistan, New Zealand, France, India, Thailand, and many more – as well as an industry programme in the Souk with 348 Project submissions, and 44 Works in progress from more than 26 countries. We are proud to have created a meeting place for ideas, business, and inspiration to carry us into the new year.”

The CEO of the Red Sea Film Foundation, Mohammed Al-Turki, announced that the festival will conclude with the MENA premiere of Michael Mann’s dynamic biopic Ferrari. The film is supported by the Red Sea International Film Fund and will also honor Nicolas Cage, a master of his craft in Hollywood. The Yusr Award winners will also be recognized, making this edition of the festival end on a positive note.
