What is Muesli?

Muesli was first originated from Switzerland by a physician named Maximilian Bircher-Benner. His version of muesli often referred to as “Bircher muesli,” consisted of raw oats, nuts and seeds mixed with lemon juice, water and sweetened condensed milk. Later muesli has become a low sugar alternate to granola making it more healthier.

Classic version of muesli is just made by mixing all the ingredients and storing it in a jar. But alternatively you can bake and store it too to make it more tasty and crunchy. Muesli is a nutritious breakfast option, providing a good balance of carbohydrates, protein, and healthy fats. It’s also rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals.

The proportions of the components in muesli can be adjusted to suit our personal tastes. Muesli is a delicious and wholesome breakfast option that offers a mix of toastiness, chewiness, nuttiness, and crunchiness.

Muesli vs Granola

Muesli typically contains grains, nuts, seeds, and dried fruits without added sweeteners, making it a healthier option than granola. The ingredients for muesli can simply be mixed and stored without cooking.

Granola and muesli share similar ingredients, but the main distinction is that granola typically includes a sweetener such as honey or sugar. Additionally, granola is typically baked until crispy and then stored, while muesli is a raw mixture of ingredients and can optionally be baked.
