I absolutely love granola ever since I first made granola bars. I frequently prepare granola to have on hand for breakfast or as a quick snack. Granola is especially tasty when paired with a bowl of cold milk – it’s delicious!

About Granola

Granola is basically a breakfast cereal made using rolled oats, nuts, seeds, dry fruits and sweetener toasted until crisp and golden. The mixture is baked in a low temperature for about 20-25 minutes and stirred in between to avoid burning. A basic simple granola needs just a handful of ingredients and makes a wonderful breakfast or snack.

Granola is commonly consumed with milk or yogurt, but also makes for a great dessert topping. It can also serve as a convenient post-workout snack due to its portability, lightweight nature, and high nutritional value, providing an immediate energy boost.

In the past, finding rolled oats to make granola was a challenge, but now many supermarkets carry them or they can be purchased online. There is no need for precise measurements, just mix and match ingredients to your liking and the end result will be delicious.

After becoming familiar with the basic formula for measuring granola, it becomes a simple task. Once you taste homemade granola, you won’t want to go back to store-bought versions because it is superior in quality. Give it a try and experience it for yourself!

The distinction between Muesli and Granola.

Even though granola and muesli contain similar ingredients, they are made differently. Granola is baked and has added sweeteners, while muesli is raw and does not contain sweeteners, which is the main distinction between the two.

Expert Tips

  • Adjust the ingredients according to your preferences and add sweetener to taste.

  • If you opt for quick-cooking oats, the duration of the baking process may differ. It could potentially only require 12-15 minutes, so be sure to monitor it closely.

  • You also have the option to include additional nuts and dried fruits according to your preference.

  • I utilized oil that lacked flavor and taste.

  • I have experimented with using jaggery syrup and it also has a pleasant taste. Swap out the maple syrup for 1/4 cup of jaggery syrup.

  • Once the wet ingredients are combined, the mixture may appear tacky. However, once baked, it will become crispy and separate. If it remains sticky, simply break it apart after it has cooled.

  • Ensure that you fully cool down before storing in an airtight container.

  • The time required for baking may differ based on the type of oven, therefore monitor after 18 minutes.

  • Include dried fruits once the mixture has been baked and while it is still warm.

  • The ideal color for granola is a golden brown, not too dark, as this can result in a bitter flavor.

  • As you are being served, you have the option to mix freshly cut fruit with milk and indulge in a delicious treat.

Serving & Storing Suggestion

You can enjoy this drink cold or hot with milk. For a tasty twist, try adding freshly cut fruits such as strawberries, bananas, apples, and more.

Store your granola in an airtight jar in a dry place for up to a month.
