About Chia Pudding

Chia Pudding is a scrumptious and nourishing treat created by combining chia seeds with milk, honey, and vanilla extract and allowing it to chill in the refrigerator for a few hours – voila, your Chia Pudding is prepared!

To create Chia Pudding, one must first soak chia seeds in a liquid such as juice, water, milk (including nut, oats, dairy, or soya milk). After mixing thoroughly to eliminate any clumps, refrigerate the mixture for a few hours until the chia pudding is ready.

Chia Pudding is a quick and nutritious dessert that requires no cooking and can be enjoyed for breakfast or as a snack. It can be prepared the night before and left to set, making it a convenient option for a ready-made breakfast in the morning.

During summer vacations, Chia Pudding is a delicious option for the family to enjoy after their lunch. This simple pudding only requires 3 main ingredients and can be mixed in just 5 minutes, although it does take some time to set.

There are many choices available for this dessert. Impress your family by serving this nutritious dish as either breakfast or dessert. This particular pudding is my preferred breakfast option for hectic mornings.

Chia Pudding Variations

There are countless options for the standard chia pudding. In this post, I have only provided 2 variations.

  • Create a Mango Chia Pudding by combining 1/4 cup of chia seeds and 1 cup of milk, along with 2 tablespoons of honey. In a glass, layer chopped mangoes at the bottom, followed by the prepared chia pudding. Repeat this layering process. Finally, top it off with more chopped mangoes and refrigerate. Serve chilled for a delicious treat!
  • To make Chocolate Chia Pudding, combine 1/4 cup chia seeds, 1 cup milk, 2 tablespoons cocoa powder, and 2 tablespoons sugar. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours and then add chocolate chips or shavings as a garnish. You can also add fresh fruit on top and serve chilled.

Chia Pudding Ingredients

  • Opt for black chia seeds instead. They can be easily found in stores or purchased online.
  • I have used regular milk, but you can replace it with almond, cashew, oat, or soy milk.
  • I have used honey as a sweetener, but you can also use regular sugar such as white sugar, brown sugar, cane sugar, etc.
  • I have utilized pure vanilla extract for flavoring. You can also add flavor to your chia pudding by using cardamom powder, coco powder, cinnamon powder, or any number of other options.
  • Toppings – Customize your dish by adding your preferred fruits, nuts, or dry fruits.

Chia Pudding Recipe Step by Step

Pour 1 cup of milk into a bowl. Ensure that the milk is boiled and either slightly warm or at room temperature.

Add 1/4 cup of chia seeds to the mixture.

Add one tablespoon of honey to the mixture.

Mix in 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract.

5.Start mixing it.

Mix the ingredients thoroughly, scraping the sides of the mixture to ensure even distribution. Allow it to sit for 15 minutes before continuing.

Next, mix the ingredients again to remove any clumps. Then, cover and place in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or overnight.

After three hours, the pudding has thickened to a jelly-like consistency and can be easily scooped with a spoon.

Place the pudding into serving dishes using a spoon.

Mango Chia Pudding

  1. Add 1/4 cup of chia seeds to a mixing bowl.

  3. Mix in 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract thoroughly.

  4. Cube the mangoes and save a small portion for topping. Refrigerate the milk and allow the chia seeds to expand. Leave for a minimum of 2 hours. Alternatively, you can soak them in milk overnight. The mixture should now have a thicker consistency.

  5. Place 2 tablespoons of diced mango into each serving glass.

  6. Pour the chia milk mixture into the glass until it reaches 3/4 full. Then, top with the remaining chopped mangoes for garnish.

Serve chilled!

Chocolate Chia Pudding

  1. Mix in 1/4 cup of chia seeds and 2 tablespoons of sugar, preferably coconut sugar. Then, include 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder.

  3. Add 1 cup of already boiled milk and mix thoroughly to remove any clumps.

  4. Let it sit for 15 minutes. Stir it thoroughly to get rid of any clumps, then put it in the fridge for at least 2 hours or overnight. When the seeds have bloomed, the pudding is ready to be served. Add choco chips on top before serving.

Expert Tips

  • The texture is your preference, whether it is slightly runny or extremely thick. We personally enjoy a slight gooeyness.
  • You may also include a dash of cinnamon powder.
  • You have the option to substitute almond milk. However, I personally used regular milk.
  • You have the option to substitute regular milk with coconut milk.
  • You have the option to use maple syrup as a substitute for honey as well.
  • You have the option to include any type of sweetener you prefer, such as white sugar, cane sugar, brown sugar, jaggery syrup, or dates syrup.

Serving & Storage Suggestion

Fresh fruits, nuts, and dried fruits can accompany Chia Pudding as toppings.

This dessert can be stored at room temperature for 24 hours and in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.

Ingredients

Classic Chia Pudding

Chocolate Chia Pudding

  • 1/4 cup chia seeds
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoon coco powder
  • 2 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla essence

Instructions

Basic Chia Pudding

  • Place 1 cup of milk in a bowl. Ensure that it has been boiled and is slightly warm, or room temperature milk is also acceptable.
  • Mix in 1/4 cup of chia seeds.
  • Mix in 1 tablespoon of honey.
  • Include 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  • Start mixing it.
  • Stir thoroughly. Scrape the edges and mix thoroughly. Allow to rest for 10 minutes.
  • Mix the contents to break up any clumps, then cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  • After 3 hours, the pudding has reached a thick, jelly-like consistency and can be easily scooped with a spoon.
  • Put the pudding into bowls for dessert.
  • Enhance it with a selection of fresh and dried fruits that you prefer.
  • The Chia Pudding is now ready to be served!

Mango Chia Pudding

  • Add 1/4 cup of chia seeds to a mixing bowl.
  • Mix in 1 cup of boiled milk and 2 tablespoons of honey.
